Top OH&S Issues In 2010

warning-workplace-safetyA recent survey has shown that OH&S and risk managers expect to face a broad range of issues in 2010, ranging from legislative changes through to business demands and technology.

The survey involved more than 170 OH&S and risk managers, CEOs and other senior business managers and was conducted by ComOps at the Safety In Action exhibition held in April 2010.

The two most important issues considered of high or critical importance by more than 80% of OH&S and risk managers proactive risk management and the need for consistent, meaningful reporting to support business decision-making.

The most worrying issue to OH&S and risk managers is fatigue management (78 per cent). Managing the impact of OH&S national harmonisation laws and meeting current environmental laws and obligations followed as the second and third most worrying issues (77 per cent and 76 per cent respectively).

More than 80 per cent of respondents also suggested that the provision of mobility tools such as PDAs to facilitate off-site audits, safety and risk management would be of medium to critical importance during 2010.
