New Handbook For Using Earthmoving Equipment Safely
WorkSafe has released a new handbook, Using earthmoving equipment near overhead electrical assets.
The handbook provides guidance for employers and operators of earthmoving equipment based on existing ‘No Go Zone’ publications.
The handbook outlines how to establish safe work procedures using knowledge of the equipment’s design limits and the overhead electrical assets.
As per the Occupational Health & Safety Regulations 2007, work near overhead power lines and associated equipment is classified as high risk and employers and contractors must meet obligations under the Electrical Safety Act 1998 and the Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004.
Implementation of the guidelines in this new handbook will ensure that OH&S oblications regarding the risks involved with this work will be met.
